Memphis’s newest yoga studio, Second Story Yoga, opened last month at 376 Perkins Road Extended, 2nd floor, Memphis, TN, 38117. They offer classes seven days a week, including: beginning yoga, flow classes, yoga using The Great Yoga Wall, yin/meditation, and a class specifically designed to release tension in the neck, shoulders, and hips.
The experienced yoga teachers at Second Story are excited to provide detailed instructions for yoga poses, breath work, and mindfulness through the practice of yoga. Not only are they knowledgeable about the practice, but each one has refined their teaching style to facilitate connection and community.
“In a society where bigger is better, technology rules, and yoga classes are often led by instructors using a script, much of yoga has been dehumanized,” said Janet Katz, owner of Second Story Yoga. “Yoga was originally intended to be handed down from one teacher to one student in order to meet the individual needs of each student. Our mission in each class is to provide the opportunity for each student to find and feel the benefit of each pose in his or her own body.”
