Say Farewell to a Double Chin with Kybella

bef

According to a survey conducted by the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, 67% of people said they are bothered by submental fullness, otherwise known as a double chin. They make you look heavier and older than you actually are and cannot always be removed by diet and exercise alone. Men and women of all ages, weights, and ethnicities can have one.

Kybella is a new injectable available at medical spas that eliminates a double chin in only two to four treatments. It’s the first and only FDA approved nonsurgical treatment that contours and improves the appearance of submental fullness. The active ingredient in Kybella is deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the body that is involved in the breakdown of dietary fat. Kybella is injected directly into the fat under the chin using small needles. Once the fat cells are destroyed, they cannot store or accumulate fat again, so re-treatment is not necessary.

Kybella is a 15-20 minute in-office treatment performed six to eight weeks apart for two to four sessions. There is minimal discomfort and the most common side effects are swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness, or hardness near the treatment site. Side effect last only about four or five days, so consider your social calendar and work commitments when making an appointment.

According to Kybella studies, “After being treated with Kybella, patients reported improvement in self perception—including feeling happier and younger, less embarrassed, less self-conscious, less overweight, and less bothered by their double chin based on their chin profiles.”
