The 2nd Annual Bass Pro Duck Dash 5K Fun Run/Walk to benefit Ducks Unlimited will be at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 15 at Bass Pro Shops Memphis Pyramid.
The dash will begin at the South Entrance to the Bass Pro Shops Memphis Pyramid with the course proceeding down Riverside Drive to Tom Lee Park. The route circles around the park then back to the start/finish line. Duck Dash participants will enjoy majestic views of the mighty Mississippi River along the entire course which ends where it began with a post-race party featuring division awards and refreshments. All registrants for the Duck Dash 5K Fun Run/Walk will receive a duck hat and a custom designed Dri-fit T-shirt. All participants are encouraged to wear “fun fowl attire.”
“The Duck Dash is a very family-friendly and fun event,” said Pam Routh, race director with P.R. Event Management. “We expect this event will appeal to a new audience that might not typically participate in 5K races.”
The Duck Dash is one of many events Bass Pro Shops Memphis Pyramid has scheduled during Flocktoberfest: The World’s Greatest Hunting Expo and Sale which runs October 7-16 and is expected to bring thousands of visitors Downtown for 10 days to participate in hunting and waterfowl seminars. In their effort to get involved locally, Bass Pro Shops Memphis Pyramid is presenting the Duck Dash to support the conservation efforts of Ducks Unlimited.
Flocktoberfest events scheduled on Oct. 15 following the Duck Dash festivities include: the 2nd Annual Big Cypress National Duck Calling Championship, the World Moon Pie Eating Contest at noon; Super Retriever Series for top sporting dogs, and a celebrity appearance by Duck Commander Jase Robertson from 2-4 p.m. For a complete listing of all Flocktoberfest events and to register for the Duck Dash, go to http://www.basspro.com/flocktoberfest2016.
