Weekend Warrior: Te’Retta Hall ~ runner

AGE: 44

OCCUPATION: Service Delivery Staff at Blackbaud

FAMILY: Two sons, ages 22 and 19

FIT CLUB: Black Girls Run! Memphis Ambassador

WW BRAGGING RIGHTS: Paced Memphis 13.1 half marathon & Murray Half Marathon (Murray, KY); ran the St. Jude Country Music Marathon in Nashville; paced Martha’s Vineyard Inaugural Marathon (half marathon pacer); and ran the Bear Lake Marathon (three half marathons in Idaho, Wyoming, and Utah in three days).

MOST MEMORABLE WW EVENT: Completing my first marathon in December 2016 – St. Jude Marathon. I never hit the acclaimed “wall,” had a wonderful time on the course, and finished strong!

I RUNNING: Running gives me an opportunity to release, listen to my body, and be free. It has also introduced me to some wonderful people all over the country.

PRE-RACE RITUALS: ½packet of oatmeal, ½banana, and a sports drink one hour before the race. At the race start, one GU and a prayer.

WW GEAR: Total Concept racer back, power pearls, Sparkle Skirt, Asics GT-2000 or Asics Gel-Kayano 20, Garmin Fenix 2, and Balega socks

OBSTACLE COURSE: In 2014, I tore my gluteus medius due to overuse. I could not run or walk for three months.

BUCKET LIST: Complete a half marathon in all 50 states; complete at least 2 international half marathons

BEST EATS: Side Street Grill – Buffalo Chicken Nachos (yummmmm!)

IF YOU COULD HAVE DINNER WITH A FAMOUS PERSON WHO WOULD YOU CHOOSE: Being a fitness coach who works with women and a leader of national women’s running organization, I’d love to have dinner with Dorothy Height to discuss her hardships over the years in advocating for women’s rights.

IF YOU COULD COME BACK AS AN ANIMAL WHAT WOULD YOU BE: Like the lion, I am protective of my territory, my cubs, those close to me, and that which I believe in. I am brave to stand up and speak up. I am willing to fight for what’s right or for those who cannot fight for themselves. I am a go-getter who eagerly seeks an answer, a solution, or whatever is needed. I am a team player but also willing to stand alone.
