The Champion for Moms & Infants Occupational Therapist & Founder of Born to Bloom: Maternal and Infant OT

Libby Skolnik, M.S. OTR/L, CEIM, is an Occupational Therapist in Memphis, TN. She has worked in several acute hospital settings for nearly eight years, treating the entire lifespan from 0-100+ years old. However, her expertise and heart are in the Neonatal ICU, working with premature and medically complex babies and their families.

In 2020, Libby found out that she and her husband were expecting their incredible daughter amid a very tumultuous time and experienced firsthand the shortcomings of our current Maternal Healthcare Model. She quickly realized Occupational Therapy was uniquely qualified to address many of these discrepancies in care for both moms and babies.

As a result, Libby founded Born to Bloom: Maternal and Infant OT in May 2023 to address the unique occupation of mothering, empower parents with the tools to support their baby’s individual development, and foster a supportive, positive, and connected Memphis motherhood community.

At Born to Bloom, Libby and her team believe that, by setting the mother up for success, they support the baby, the family unit, the community, and the world as a whole. Memphis moms need and deserve quality and holistic maternal healthcare. Babies deserve a well-supported, healthy mama. And Memphians deserve an engaged and healthy community. Libby founded Born to Bloom to help make this a reality for the mothers and babies in the Memphis area. They have already been able to help numerous moms and babies, and they’re just getting started.

Libby’s ultimate goal and dream is to establish a full-spectrum holistic Maternal Health Co-op in Memphis, where moms have a one-stop shop for all their needs, from OBGY/N-Midwife services to pediatricians to on-site lactation support to postpartum rehabilitation, and so much more. Libby hopes this dream becomes a reality one day — and Born to Bloom is just the first step in this process.
