I <3 MY SPORTS: I love the camaraderie and friendliness of people, and everyone who helps each other have a good time.
BUCKET LIST: I always wanted to qualify for the Boston Marathon.
I was on pace at the Chicago marathon in ’99 to qualify until mile 22 when I stubbed my toe! I’d also love to do a travel bike ride in Maine.
UP NEXT: West Fight On Ride in September and MRTC Road Race Series
FAV FITNESS ACCOMPLISHMENT: I’m proud to have run the MRTC Road Race Series for 30 years (including this year), seven marathons, and multiple Century Rides.
HOMETOWN: Memphis, TN
SPEED BUMPS: I’ve had two hip replacements and recently fell on a hike and tore my rotator cuff.
MY GROUP: Memphis Runners Track Club and Memphis Hightailers
FAV JAMS: I love to play “Out in the Country” by Three Dog Night when I’m out cycling. When running, I always play “Beautiful Day” by U2.
RECENT RACES: WRC Discover the Greenway 5K+ (walked due to injury); MRTC MORE 5K (second place in Age); West Fight On Bike Ride BEST EATS: Maciel’s is always good, and I love spaghetti and meatballs from Brooklyn Bridge.
DREAM DINNER COMPANY: Thomas Jefferson. He wasn’t perfect, but he was brilliant. He laid the groundwork for this country.
GO-TO GEAR: I love my Garmin 165 watch. It provides me with my distance, vitals, and everything I need.
INSPIRATION TO BE FIT: I’ve always been active, and I’m not good at sitting still. I want to stay young, and the key to doing that is staying fit and active.
ON MY NIGHTSTAND: I am a big Erik Larson fan!
PET PEEVE: When people think they can take a shortcut and get the same out of a workout — it doesn’t work that way!
BINGE-WATCHING: I love binge-watching shows on Netflix and Apple TV and have enjoyed series like Harlan Coben’s adaptations from his books, such as “Missing You.”
MOTTO: Treat everyone how you would want to be treated.
