I <3 CYCLING: It’s a challenging sport that doesn’t beat you down physically. It’s a huge mental and physical challenge, but I can ride for hours and still walk when I’m done!

BUCKET LIST: I want to do the Ride 2 Rosemary at 75.

FAVE FITNESS ACCOMPLISHMENT: Reversing coronary artery disease at the age of 53.

HOMETOWN:  Germantown

SPEED BUMPS: I started riding because I had coronary artery blockages. I lost my youngest daughter four years later, so I road for my emotional recovery, too. I’ve been battling arthritis and aging conditions — knee replacements and multiple other operations — so I ride to stay fit, and it’s now an integral part of who I am.

MY GROUP: Cirque du Vélos and Ride 2 Rosemary Team

FAVORITE JAMS: “Green Grass and High Tides” by The Outlaws

BINGE-WATCHING: “Silo” on Apple TV+

RECENT RACES: Ride 2 Rosemary

MOST MEMORABLE FITNESS EVENT: The most memorable for me was the 2011 National Senior Olympics.

GO-TO GEAR: Specialized Creo road e-bike. Using an e-bike has allowed me to continue riding with people I’d otherwise never be able to keep up with.

INSPIRATION TO BE FIT: I want to have many more good and helpful years with my family, especially my 8-year-old grandson.

BEST EATS: Las Tortugas Deli Mexicana: corn on the cob

DREAM DINNER COMPANY: Dr. Willis C. Campbell founded the Campbell Clinic in 1919. I could share with him what he started and his effect on the history of orthopaedic surgery.

ON MY NIGHTSTAND: “The Wide Wide Sea: Imperial Ambition, First Contact and the Fateful Final Voyage of Captain James Cook” by Hampton Sides (The author is from Memphis!)

PET PEEVE: Inattentive drivers and drivers who don’t believe they should share the road with bikes.
