I LOVE CYCLING: I’m in awe at what can be done on a bicycle. Our bodies become efficient machines that endure various conditions to get us from one place to another, usually far away.
BUCKET LIST: I’d like to ride my bike in as many states and countries as possible!
FAVE FITNESS ACCOMPLISHMENT: Riding a century (over 100 miles).
MY GROUP: I’m the President of Major Taylor Memphis and a Certified Ride Leader with Memphis Hightailers. I’m also a member of Grip & Grind Cycling, DeSoto County Cycling Club, and the Unofficial Donut Cycling Crew.
FAVORITE JAMS: “DNA.” by Kendrick Lamar
RECENT RACES: I haven’t raced, but I’ve ridden in several major rides. My favorite is being part of the national relay team for Carry The Load, where I rode from San Antonio to Dallas on the final leg of the West Coast Relay team that started in Seattle, WA and ended in Dallas, TX. It was in honor of our service men and women and first responders.
MOST MEMORABLE FITNESS EVENT: It’s a tie between Carry the Load and Bikes Blues & Bayous. Our club, Major Taylor Memphis, was featured at the BBB 2022 ride in Greenwood, and we participated in the production of a short documentary on the life of Marshall Major Taylor.
BINGE-WATCHING: “Ask This Old House”
BEST EATS: I like Soul Fish Café (on Cooper). Their Southwest Salad with Blackened chicken is my favorite!
DREAM DINNER COMPANY: Comedian Bernie Mac. He’d have me laughing the entire time, and I think he’d also have some life wisdom to impart.
GO-TO GEAR: Strava. “If it’s not on Strava, it did not happen!”
ON MY NIGHTSTAND: “The Servant: A Simple Story About the True Essence of Leadership” by James C. Hunter
PET PEEVE: When someone tries to make their fitness goals someone else’s and fail to realize or acknowledge that everyone is different and there’re multiple ways to reach similar goals.
FAV EXTRAVAGANCE: Tools. I love tools! I probably have a backup for my backup.
