52, Eyelid and Facial Plastic Surgeon at Eye Specialty Group Collierville

Favorite Fitness Accomplishment: Winning my first bike race as a teenager and my continued passion for cycling, even after 40 years of riding.

My Ride: Strictly road bikes. Brands include Cannondale, Cervelo, Bianchi, and Specialized.

I <3 Cycling:  Cycling embraces hard work, human will, and technology. The bicycle has given me so much and made me stronger on so many levels. Most of what the world throws at me has been experienced on a bike from an emotional standpoint.

Life-Changing Moment: A solo victory after riding away up a final climb. This was a life-changing moment because it gave me the confidence to fully believe in myself, and since that day I have not been afraid to fail when taking chances in life.

Motivation: No matter how hard the ride or whether or not I was in the mood to ride, when I am done, there is never buyer’s remorse about riding and the way it makes me feel. My annual physicals and a little bit of vanity motivate me as well.

Obstacle Course: I have broken over 10 bones and undergone a hip replacement, collar bone reconstruction, and spinal fusion surgery—to name a few. Each injury and surgery pushed me beyond my existing mental and physical limits to regain my fitness.

Next Challenge:I am scheduled to compete in several time trials this season, but COVID-19 may derail this.

Go-To Curbside: Southern Social would be at the top of my list. Their pork chop, biscuits, and old-fashioneds are amazing.

Spirit Animal: I would say a horse. Horses are noble, loyal, strong, smart, muscular, and fast.
