FAV WAY TO WORKOUT:
One of my favorite ways to work out is through outdoor cycling. Taking in the scenery really energizes the session.
BIGGEST FITNESS MYTH:
The infamous “No pain, no gain.” You should never normalize experiencing pain while participating in resistance training; if you are, then things need to be adjusted ASAP.
MY ADVICE:
All of my clients would tell you that I constantly tell them to “control” their movements. We strongly emphasize movement quality at Apex; this prevents injuries and builds confidence.
MY FITNESS TIP:
Fitness is an umbrella term that contains many categories of options. Find the form of fitness you enjoy and build consistency to achieve your goals.
IF I COULD ONLY HAVE ONE PIECE OF EQUIPMENT:
A kettlebell! Kettlebells are functional pieces of equipment and can be utilized to target the whole body.
ALWAYS IN MY GYM BAG:
My earbuds! Music is one of my love languages, and it helps fuel me during my workouts.
MY FITNESS INSPIRATION:
Dr. John Rusin, hands down, who is a physical therapist and strength coach, specializing in pain-free performance.
DREAM WORKOUT PARTNER:
Sha’Carri Richardson. Our session would consist of sprints, strengthening, and plyometrics!
DIET PHILOSOPHY:
Maintaining a proper diet is like taking care of your car; you have to put the right things in to function at your best.
WHAT KEEPS YOU MOTIVATED:
My secret is to keep the bigger picture and end goal in mind — always.
NEWBIE ADVICE:
My best advice is one word: consistency. If you stay consistent with evolving your lifestyle and building discipline nutritionally and physically, where could you go wrong? You will see results!
GOALS FOR THE YEAR AHEAD:
My current fitness goal outside of the gym is to increase my mileage with cardio. I work toward that by giving myself a set number of miles to complete each week through running or cycling.
BIGGEST NUTRITION MYTH:
The myth that you should eliminate carbs from your diet to lose weight. Your body needs carbohydrates for energy production and proper functioning.
MY TYPICAL WORKOUT DAY:
My perfect workout day would consist of a couple of sessions, a full-body strength training session, and a cardio session.
