The Bike Aficionado • Founder of Memphis Social Bike Club

Landon Blankenship is passionate about bikes and cycling and wants to spread that passion throughout Memphis. Having worked with bikes for over a decade, he started his bike career at Outdoors, Inc. and then moved to Bike Smith, where he eventually took over the business. Unfortunately, he was forced to shut down due to the pandemic but joined the Latting Speed Shop family.

Although Landon closed his business, it did bring to fruition an amazing cycling community with the formation of the Memphis Social Bike Club. The club was formed in response to a need during the pandemic when Landon and his friends sought a way to spend time together safely and ride bikes.

Founded to create a community of cyclists welcoming to everyone, no matter their skill level or speed, they gather every Thursday at 7 p.m. in Overton Park at Veterans Plaza and do a group social ride around town. The ride has grown exponentially, and they now get between 20-60 riders on any given Thursday. They include novice riders to cyclists who compete with Memphis teams.

Landon’s goal is to continue creating a welcoming cycling community in Memphis. Supporting riders and continuing to grow Memphis’ cycling community is his passion, and he hopes to continue engaging the 901 fitness community and local nonprofits to expand his group, providing a safe and fun experience for cyclists in the city.
