The Fitness-Focused Law Student Future Attorney & Founder of Serotonin Sports

A Houston native, William Lockett moved to Memphis to pursue his dream of becoming an attorney and is in his second year of law school here at Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. A lifelong fitness junkie who played college football at UCLA and Sam Houston University, William prioritizes fitness despite the demands of law school. He knows that doing so makes him a better student, which will one day make him a better attorney.

William believes that prioritizing fitness is essential to creating the best version of yourself. The demands of law school have made meeting his fitness goals a challenge, but William always finds time to go to the gym at least three times a week. As we can all imagine, law school can be stressful and take a mental toll on students. Fitness is William’s way of handling stress and creating a better work/life balance for himself.

He primarily focuses on cardio, lifting weights, and playing tennis with his fellow law school classmates on the weekends. He even recently competed in the Memphis Law Student Bar Association Tennis Tournament last month. Once he’s a licensed attorney, he’s confident that sticking to his fitness routine will become even more important to stay focused and at the top of his game.

To further incentivize himself, William has become a student leader at the Memphis Wellness Center, where he acts as a friendly face at the university’s gym and helps others reach their fitness goals. Helping others has inspired him to start Serotonin Sports, a fitness lifestyle brand he works on in his spare time. William’s mission is to help our community understand that vacations can be found in our everyday routine. Currently, the brand is focused on selling yoga mats that encourage diversity and women empowerment. The mats are available on serotoninsports.us and can be shipped worldwide. William plans to eventually evolve Serotonin Sports into a lifestyle brand that provides apparel, equipment, and counseling to customers looking to better themselves through fitness.
