The 32nd Annual Dragonfly Sprint Triathlon returns to Sardis Lake on Saturday, August 27, 2022, in Sardis, Miss. For the first time, $150 cash awards will be presented to the fastest cyclist in each competition: men, women, relay male and relay female.

This year’s event is presented by P.R. Event Management in memory of Cris Crisler, a lifetime runner, cyclist, and triathlete, who participated in last year’s Dragonfly Tri for the first time. Cris passed away immediately following the 2021 event. His wife, Elizabeth, along with family, friends, and supporters, will attend the race and assist with the awards presentation.

The event begins at 8:00 a.m. on the sandy white beach at Cypress Point on the Lower Lake at Sardis Reservoir. The triathlon includes a 1/2-mile swim with a sandy beach entrance and exit, an 18-mile bike course through the beautiful, flat pastoral country, and a 4-mile run along portions of a shady woodland trail. Sardis Lake is located approximately 50 miles south of Memphis, off Highway 55 South, between Como and Batesville.

Registration is $65.00 per person. The cost for relay teams is $45.00 per relay participant. Relay Teams of two to three persons are encouraged to enter. Register at preventmanagement.net. Proceeds will benefit local scouts and church groups.

All participants receive a custom-designed T-shirt, and finishers will be presented with a custom-designed medal. In addition, award winners in each category will receive handcrafted pottery platters and bowls created by Memphis artist Miranda Bavier, an art teacher for Shelby County Schools. Awards will be presented at a 10:45 a.m. ceremony at the race site.

The event venue offers participants and their families an opportunity to swim, picnic, boat, and explore numerous public day-use areas on the lake at John W. Kyle State Park and nearby Holly Springs National Forest.

Sponsors for this year’s race are: Elizabeth Crisler Liquid Creative, Dr. Thomas Ratliff with West Cancer Clinic and Research Institute, Gerald Emerson of Prudential Advisors, Blair Parker Landscape Designs, Jimmy Reed/ Marx-Bensdorf Realtors, Dr. Barbara Geater Family Medicine, BPC Performance Coaching, Blue Sky Couriers, Hook Point Brewing Company, Prairie Farms Dairy, Scruggs Creative, and media sponsor Memphis Health + Fitness Magazine.
