There’s a new treatment joining the women’s wellness scene, and it’s for—yep, down there.
Now, women have access to a new therapy that combats the effects that aging and childbirth have on our most intimate areas.
Perched off Poplar Avenue in East Memphis is an elegant and serene new plastic surgery office led by world-renowned surgeon Dr. Robert Wallace.
Wallace Plastic Surgery group offers a variety of noninvasive and surgical procedures that empower women to present their best selves to the world. Their newest addition to the practice is Morpheus8 V.
Joining the team last year, Paige Botts, PA, brings her passion for all things related to feminine care.
“As medical practitioners, I feel that, as a whole, we need to do a better job of starting conversations with women about their intimate wellness.”
As a byproduct of childbirth and menopause, decreases in estrogen production can lead to dryness, laxity, and urinary incontinence, all of which affect the structure of the pelvic floor, leading to thinner and more fragile tissue.
These symptoms can often lead to vaginal discomfort, pain, and bleeding during sex, as well as putting women at an increased risk of recurrent urinary tract infections.
“All those factors take a toll on female genitalia, causing a multitude of problems that historically patients have been told is just something they have to live with when in reality we have the technology now to treat it.”
Paige is proud to be assisting women in reclaiming their feminine health using Morpheus8 V.
Part of a group of women-designed therapies called Empower RF, Morpheus8 V is a nonsurgical, minimally invasive therapy that utilizes bipolar radio frequency to improve vaginal atrophy in an office setting.
“The problems that these patients deal with are almost universally related to decreasing collagen (which provides strength) and elastin (which provides elasticity) to the intimate tissues.”
The device’s micro-needling feature works by stimulating the tissues to develop more collagen and elastin, tightening the vaginal canal and increasing blood flow and lubrication to weaker areas. This essentially turns back the clock on those tissues.
Better yet, it rejuvenates not just tissues within the vagina but works to tighten the external labia as well.
“As a provider, I’m excited to be able to offer this. We can improve quality of life and sexual health in an outpatient, in-office setting.”
The entire appointment— including consultation, vaginal exam, topical anesthetic application, and procedure— takes just 1.5 hours.
There is no need for sedation in this safe and hassle-free experience, in which a small wand applicator is inserted for no longer than 30 minutes once the area has been numbed.
Paige wants to reinforce that women should not be discouraged or guilted by industry biases surrounding aesthetic procedures or sexual well-being but rather motivated to look and feel their best for themselves.
“This isn’t just an aesthetic issue; this is a quality of life problem that the majority of women will deal with at some point in their lifetime. I am so happy to provide a technology that can drastically impact my patients’ lives!”
