MEET THE WINNER | Best OB/GYN: MOGA

Dr. Alicia Wright is a native Memphian, wife, mother of three, and OB/GYN who enjoys staying active, traveling, trying new restaurants, and playing tennis. Professionally, she has the privilege of caring for women through every stage of life, from pediatric gynecology to pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause, and menopause.

“What I love most about my specialty is that it allows me to build long-term relationships with patients and walk alongside them during some of the most meaningful and vulnerable moments they’ll experience,” she says.

HER MISSION

Dr. Wright believes women deserve to be active participants in their healthcare. “The best care isn’t about simply being told what to do,” she says. “It’s about understanding your body and your options and making decisions together with your physician.”

She is especially passionate about helping women understand they don’t have to “just live with” symptoms like pelvic pain, heavy periods, incontinence, or infertility. By educating patients about the available treatment options, she hopes they feel informed, empowered, and confident in choosing the path that’s right for them. More than anything, she wants every patient to leave her office feeling empowered, not intimidated.

WHAT SETS HER APART

Although Dr. Wright is quick to acknowledge the outstanding community of OB/GYN physicians in Memphis, she strives to create a calm, judgment-free environment where every patient feels genuinely heard and understood. “My goal is to provide evidence-based care while recognizing that every woman has different values, goals, and experiences,” she says.

She is especially passionate about trauma-informed care and helping patients who have had difficult medical experiences in the past feel safe again. “I believe compassion is just as important as clinical expertise.” Dr. Wright takes time to listen carefully, answer questions thoroughly, and explain recommendations in a way that makes sense. She hopes that every patient leaves feeling respected, informed, reassured, and confident in managing their healthcare.

EXPERT ADVICE

“Don’t wait until something feels serious to prioritize your health,” she says. Further, Dr. Wright encourages women to invest in the habits that have the greatest long-term impact: preventive care, daily movement, strength training, adequate sleep, good nutrition, and stress management. “Small, consistent habits are more effective than dramatic changes,” she says.

LOOKING FORWARD

Dr. Wright continues to expand her expertise across several areas of women’s health. She has become especially passionate about understanding how the pelvic floor functions during pregnancy and using that knowledge to help optimize labor, improve vaginal delivery rates, and support better outcomes for both mothers and babies.

Pediatric gynecologic care has also become a special interest, and she looks forward to continuing collaborations with local pediatricians and St. Jude. Looking ahead, she plans to further expand her knowledge in perimenopause, hormone therapy, and whole-person wellness.

Being recognized as Memphis Health & Fitness’ Best OB/GYN is an honor she doesn’t take lightly. “I’m so grateful to be part of such an amazing community and to care for women and families throughout Memphis,” she says. “It’s a privilege I never take for granted.”
