INSPIRATION TO BE FIT: My husband. My kids. I want to be better and healthy for them and be the best mom and wife.
I LOVE RUNNING: I love how much it challenges you. It’s a solo sport, but there’s such a great supportive community of people that support you.
FAVE FITNESS ACCOMPLISHMENT: Completing my first marathon in February.
BUCKET LIST: There are many different halves and full marathons I would love to do throughout the country. There’s one in Albuquerque during the balloon festival, and Glacier National Park has a cool one I’d love to do. I would love to run an ultra-marathon one day, too.
RECENT RACES: Harwood 5k for disabilities, Triple Dog Dare 5k, 10K, and 15k. I did the Big Buffalo 50k Relay as well.
SPEED BUMPS: I got shin splints a month out from my full. I ended up taking quite a bit of time off and biked instead.
GO-TO GEAR: I love my Garmin Forerunner 245. I have a few different shoes I love, but Brooks Glycerin is my absolute favorite. I also like my Saucony Endorphin Speeds and Hoka Clifton’s.
DREAM DINNER COMPANY: Nick Bare and David Goggins because they’re both ultra runners and, honestly, just crazy endurance athletes. I’d love to have dinner and listen to them tell stories.
MEMORABLE FITNESS EVENT: Finishing the marathon. I signed up for the Mississippi River Marathon, and they ended up going virtual a couple of days before. I was devastated. I ended up running it by myself in 15-degree weather. My husband crewed for me throughout the run. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but I’m so proud I did it. I’m thankful he was there to help encourage me.
PET PEEVE: Non-supportive people
UP NEXT: I’m doing the Great American River Run half marathon. In the fall, I plan on doing the Tupelo 14 miler, Big River Crossing half, and St. Jude full this year.
